[Author’s Note:] As it seems to be, I hit a dead end with epic and fulfilling stories, like leopolds divine travels, or the fat princess, so instead, I've decided to write a quartet of stories revolving around a small town...involving much insertion of character, guess where.

Chapter 1: Moving in

"This is a wonderful place, Mark," Alice said, carrying out one of the many bags the two had placed in the back of their little ford focus.

The small, sleepy town of Aberystwyth, on the coast of Wales, was a scenic place, despite the clouds. The rolling hill the town was perched on took in the view of the coastline, whilst the town was close enough to walk into.

Mark smiled, looking up at the place to stay. It was a nice house, not too far from the college of art for the university, if a little drab. Moss was growing on the wall, and weeds littered the garden, and a few roof-tiles were missing. If it had been different weather, a person could mistake it for a place Dr Frankenfurter spent his seaside breaks.

Alice fumbled with the key's, opening the door, letting the light in after so many years. "Who last owned this place, it's filthy."

"Students."

"thought as much," Alice smiled, "Don't worry, Mark, we'll clean this up nice and quick."

Mark rolled his eyes. Alice was anal about two things; cleanliness and her weight. And whilst he found it beneficial for the former, the latter was a little at the detriment to his sex drive. He would not let it dominate it, far from it. Alice was far too cheerful and kind for that, but a fuller figure wouldn't go a miss. Maybe then his skills as a chef would be appreciated a bit, rather than constant salad preparation.

Heaving himself and his bags over the threshold he looked up. Alice was looking around the top floors.

"Any reason why they left?"

"Strange apparitions. I would put it down to weed, except the agency gave us the address and number for the ‘local paranormal experts’, Laura Druitt and Allistar Thomas."

"Probably nothing to worry about," Alice said. "No such things as ghosts."

"Don’t want to jinx it," muttered Mark, going out to grab more bags.

Alice smiled as her large boyfriend went out. She loved him a lot, and moving away from the pell-mell of modern Manchester life would be the best thing for both of them. Mark's career as a chef could really take off here, and she could be in her dream house, by the sea and...

"hello, dear, you look nice and tasty."

Alice spun round in just enough time to scream whilst the spirit leapt inside her, cackling with laughter.
