Twilight, why the buzz about it?

Excuse me for being an old lady that is out of touch will all this stuff, but can somebody please tell me why the big fuss being made over this Twilight movie?
I have not seen it, but I have heard excited glowing reports about it from others.

Questions.

Why is everybody getting their panties in a bunch over it? Why are they so excited?

Am I too old to see it? Prolly.
