Hope this isn't stepping on anyone's toes, but rather than post a whole string of UK-related threads that some people won't be interested in, I thought I would start a UK politics thread.

To start off, what do we think of this?

The main reason seems to be to save money, but what about the long-term costs of domestic violence? Surely it's better to give the victim change to get away from the abuser at the outset rather than for the police to keep having to go back?
