I'm in a rare mood today, which is probably more a bad thing than a good one, and probably means I badly need to hang out with a specific member of my friends group. Either way, I asked myself this question, so I thought others might as well.
Why the heck does a story titled 'The Cursed Queens' have a main character who is niether cursed OR a queen, but rather a lost trans-dimensional scout whose life isn't guaranteed at this point and time? Because, when I was thinking up a title (a long and complicated process, when there are so many cliché titles already in use), it occured to me that it would make more sense to objectify the underlying cause of the main character's inevitable WG than the character herself, or the gain itself. And so, 'The Cursed Queens', the reason all women in the kingdom of Maelen are either fat or in self-imposed exile.
