This article argues very persuasively that Mexican and Central American migrants are being pushed into the USA because of the damage conservative American policies have wrought over the last 30 years.
Ironically its was the very people who are freaking out now (e.g. Arizona conservatives) who had earlier supported the policies that caused this mass migration.
