I came across this today in the New York Times. What appalls me most about this camp is that they made the little girl's essay available to the public. It's so personal and so sad and they see nothing wrong or distasteful about using these kids in such a way. I was so disgusted I sent this email to their media contact:

I was horrified to learn that you made the very personal entrance essay of a 12 year old available to the public. She's 12. 12 not 22. How could you make something so painful and personal for someone so young so very public? it's exploitation plain and simple and disgraceful to boot. I work in marketing and while I understand the need for publicity, I'm just so utterly disgusted by this tactic that I am shamed to share this profession with your marketing team. It would be better to stick to testimonials of the campers after the fact, as you do on your website. Since I don't watch MTV I can't comment on your appearance on the program Fat Camp. I should hope that producers kept the exploitation to a minimum. I just don't know what else to say."
