Volume 1: Chapter 17- Kiss and Tell
“Could you really hear me?” Kate echoed again with a tone that conveyed how pleased she was. Awaiting Jay’s response with great interest, Kate adjusted her position on the couch so that she was cuddled up to face to face with the hero of today’s football game rather than letting him spoon her. The TV still buzzed in the background, but both of them were now tuning it out.
“Yes,” Jay repeated with a smile.
It felt good that Kate had taken an interest in something that really consumed his whole life, it also felt good having her warm curvaceous body pressing tightly against him. As her arms nestled themselves around his broad upper back, his arms wrapped around Kate’s lower body. He liked to feel her hips, and her butt, just as much as he liked the feel of Kate’s large breasts pressing against his chest. In a feminine way, she had the perfect balance of fullness and softness to her features. However enjoyable their closeness was, he felt the need to add, “the guys on the bench were giving me crap about it.”
“Oh? Really?” Kate responded in a concerned surprise, “I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry. They just wanted to know details.” Jay clarified, as Kate stopped straining her neck trying to maintain level eye contact with him, and instead wiggled into a position where she could rest her head on his chest. She closed her eyes, let out a deep breath, and got comfortable before she responded. Jay could feel her soft tummy pressing against his abdomen.
“So, what did you tell them?” Kate wondered trying to give Jay the benefit of the doubt before she assumed the worst of his locker-room talk.
“Told them it was none of their business.” Jay answered proudly, as he felt an appreciative squeeze from Kate.
“Good man.” Kate hummed remaining in place. She felt so cozy right now. Jay’s body was like a space heater, she felt completely content. If they stayed like this for much longer, she could see herself falling asleep early tonight.
“I was wondering.. I know I twisted your arm into going. But did you like it?” Jay reluctantly asked, breaking Kate’s apparent tranquility. He hoped she enjoyed the game, it certainly sounded like she was having fun when he’d heard her cheering in the stands.
“I did.” Kate hummed quietly in response.
In truth, watching the game had been a lot of fun. She’d enjoyed the tailgate, and her friends had been fun too. Jessica and Lara got more into the game after halftime and their idle chatter became far less of a distraction. Despite Mia stealing her hot dogs, Kate was able to buy some replacements before the halftime rush really spiked.
She was still mad at Mia for acting like such a jerk, but her mood was in a better place than it normally would have been thanks to Jay. He’d made the play of the game to win it for Douglas University in overtime. He was surely the talk of the town this weekend and he still chose to forgo any victory parties in order to hang out with her. That meant a lot to her. She liked everything about the game and the way this night was going. Well, except when she saw Jay get absolutely trucked by a linebacker on one particularly uninspired play.
“Be honest.” Jay urged Kate, as he gently pressed his hands against her hips to get a more energetic reaction out of the chesty blonde. She seemed a little sleepy.
“I did!” Kate burst a little louder than she meant to. She’d perked up, arched her back and blinked her eyes back into focus. Gazing at Jay, she assured him that, “I had fun! Even my friends had fun.”
“Would you go again?” Jay asked unable to hide his pleased smile.
“For sure!” Kate enthusiastically nodded. Her long blonde hair was still in a sport ponytail and it was positively bouncing all over the place.
“Stop joshing.” Jay replied trying to get more of a rise out of Kate.
“I’m serious! Football’s not so bad when you’ve got someone to cheer for.” Kate admitted, as she tried to convince him she wasn’t just saying these things to say them. She meant them.
“It was nice knowing you were watching.” Jay warmly revealed, as his words motivated Kate to snuggle closer with a hug. With the girl he was crushing on in his arms, Jay added, “It’s been weird not knowing anybody. Back home my family would go to every game.”
“Are you feeling homesick?” Kate responded with some concern.
“Maybe a little I guess.” Jay acknowledged, as Kate once again released some tension in her hug and maneuvered herself so she could look at her guy.
“Well, since you liked me watching so much.. I wouldn’t mind cheering for you at your next game.” Kate offered, while Jay raised a curious eyebrow.
“Are you okay with traveling? The next game is on the road.” Jay explained not wanting Kate to promise something if she didn’t fully understand what she was getting into.
“I love traveling.” Kate assured him, while she appreciated his concern.
“Cool, then I’d like that.” Jay smiled with a bit more cheer on his face than there had been before.
Not knowing how to respond, Kate felt herself being pulled into his embrace. However, rather than accept the hug and continue to lazily cuddle on the couch, Kate’s eyes lingered on Jay’s lips. He had a bit of a bruise on his lower lip. He’d explained earlier that he’d bit his lip when he’d been tackled. It looked a little painful, but didn’t look so bad, in fact, Kate wanted to kiss it and make it better. So, she did.
