In a relationship, for those who are straight or bi, do you prefer being the dominant personality or do you like the man to be dominant?

I'll also ask what does it mean to you personally when someone has a dominant personality in a relationship, whether it is you or your partner? I ask because in asking my initial question, I realize the answer given by others is going to be based on how differently people define dominant or submissive in the first place.

When I talk about dominant, I mean a man who takes charge, takes lead, likes to fix things right away if a problem arises, makes most of the decisions (given that he listens to you as well and your input), and is very assertive, overall. You can also apply this sexually...someone who takes charge in the bedroom, who initiates or comes up with new and interesting stuff to try. Someone who isn't shy about going for what they want.

A lot of people can be mixed. I know there are people who are submissive or dominant in every sphere of their personality but there are many who are a take charge personality in everyday life but they like to submit in the bedroom or vice versa.

Where do you fall and what do you prefer in a man? What works and what absolutely doesn't work for you?

I'd also like to hear from those who are in lesbian/bi relationships and if that dynamic makes any difference in how important this type of element is in chemistry, sexual attraction and compatibility in general.
