It's just my husband and I this year, and we want to make something different but not too different. So far, I'm thinking:

Grilled quail
Roasted brussels sprouts
Baked acorn squash with butter and spices
Mixed grain pilaf
Green beans almondine
Pecan pie

Baked Chicken
Sweet Potato Casserole with Marshmellows on top - (son's request)
Mashed Potatoes
Green Beans
Banana Pudding - (son's request again)
Pies: 2 Chocolate, 2 Coconut Cream (made a son's request again), and 2 Pumpkin

I always make a lot for dinner and take to those around me who don't have a family and won't have dinner unless someone takes it to them.. Have done this many years that is why so many pies..

Roasted turkey (how original!)
Cornbread dressing
Cheesy potatoes
Creamy green beans, mushrooms, and onions (but not the one that uses canned soup and french-fried onions)
Rolls
Fresh cranberry salad with marshmallows
Pecan and pumpkin pie

Ohio Lady: That's really sweet (pun intended); but the ratio of desserts to savory dishes on your menu doesn't necessarily seem like a bad thing to me, even if you weren't generous enough to share. :p

Thank you MsBrightSide. My mom use to do this to our neighbors and I just carried it down through the years.. Pies won't be the only thing we will be sharing :) Our neighbor who is a single lady whose family won't be here will get dinner along with pie. My mom always told me it was more blessed to give than receive and I love seeing a smile on their faces when I leave and knowing they won't have a bologna sandwich. :)

It's only a "salad" in the blue-haired-old-lady-bringing-a-salad-to-a-Midwestern-potluck kind of way. :p

There will be some kids present, and they prefer it to a more traditional cranberry sauce. It's basically just pulverized cranberries sweetened with sugar, whipped cream, and marshmallows, mixed with pecans. The marshmallows are probably the ingredient that won the kids over; and they do help to offset the bitterness/tartness of the cranberries, but then kids seem to think marshmallows make everything better. They'd probably like the turkey to be stuffed with marshmallows, too.

By the way, all the menus here sound delicious, and I've gotten some good ideas for next year.

It's several days after but...

We had 2 dinners. One on Thursday with my brother and his wife/kids and one on Friday with my husband and his sister.

Thursday's Menu-no cooking for me
smoked ham
potato salad
dressing
mac n cheese
rolls
deviled eggs
baked beans
pumpkin pie, pecan pie and apple pie

Friday's menu-I cooked
smoked turkey
chicken and dressing
mashed potatoes
mac n cheese
gravy
rolls
pear and ginger pie from Central Market.

eta I totally forgot the gross canned cranberry stuff at both meals.
