I’ve been on and off SSRI’s over the past couple years because I’m obsessive compulsive. I’m off them right now, but I remember when I was on them my weight gain fetish almost completely went away, which I thought was fascinating. It might have been just general lowered libido, but the notion that a fetish might have brain chemistry that’s similar to OCD obsessions is really interesting to me. Does anyone else here have OCD? Do your preferences feel related to your OCD at all?

To clarify, it came right the fuck back after I stopped taking my meds.

I’m also not suggesting that liking weight gain is a mental illness, just wondering about a possible link. Besides all the troublesome symptoms that I have, there are lots of little differences in the way I think from the way that most people think that aren’t harmful at all, so I feel as though this could be one of them.

That IS rather fascinating. Did you find that it changed anything else about your sexuality?

SSRIs are infamous for causing a decrease in sexual desire and I imagine it is just that. They block the pathways responsible for arousal.

...also, you likely will have either delayed orgasms on them or no orgasms at all.

I had less desire for sex and less sexual fantasies. When I did have fantasies they were centered around the actual act of sex, which is unusual for me. It was an interesting experience.

1-That does seem like the most likely reason. Occam’s razor.

2-I personally had no problems with orgasming, I just wasn’t very interested in doing it.

A fetish is a fixation on a certain thing/aspect/act etc. So I could see ocd could play into that. Not saying that everyone with a fetish is ocd, but I could see how they could run together. Could be interesting to see if there is any research on the topic.

I hope that things are going ok for you these days without the meds.

I find myself having less intense sexual desire overall these days, and just wishing for someone to hold, and to have a conversation with. There are so many out there, tall, short, thin, fat, older, younger, and one can only give one's heart so many times before it's enough and you just want someone who isn't a meth-head, or 24 years old and three kids already, or into Jesus to the point of absurdity, or listens to what you say instead of instantly turning the conversation back to themselves...give me a person who is sweet, kind, funny, gentle and attractive, and the weight is secondary.

But no, I've never taken a med that has eliminated my love for fat women. :)

I think this happens to a lot of people and it's not really about eliminating your fetish; it's because it numbs sex drive and therefore makes you less focused on such things.

I like to be OCD so I doubt that I will have this result.
