I received this email this morning from Peggy Howell of NAAFA. If you are interested, contact her directly at: [email protected]

It would be fun if someone from Dimensions could do this!!

Have you ever wanted to be tattooed on TV? How about Miami Ink? I
have been contacted to Miami Ink and they are interested in having a
NAAFA member who is outgoing and vocal about size acceptance try out
to be on their show. Since they contacted NAAFA, I would prefer it
be someone who is a NAAFA member and will mention our organization
and the work we do on behalf of the size acceptance community during
their interview/conversat ion. Someone who really gets it and knows
how to express it!

You will find out when you visit the website that Miami Ink does not
cover any costs or offer any compensation. You have to pay your own
way there, your own stay and pay for the tattoo. It won't be a
cheap experience, but it will be great exposure for the size
acceptance movement!

The letters from one of their producers follows:

************ ********* ********* ********* ********* ********* ********* ***

Hi there,

I am writing to you from the Reality Show "Miami Ink" which shoots
out of South Beach, FL and airs on The Learning Channel each week.
In case you are not familiar with us, I would point you towards the
show's official website www.miami-ink. com. My name is Ellen and I
work in the casting department, so basically what I'm writing you
about is - as the subject line said - that we are interested in
finding a client who is a member of NAAFA.

We are currently shooting our 3rd season and as the show continues
we are looking to feature a more diverse and interesting clientele,
which lead me to contact you. We would welcome anyone who is willing
to apply to be on the show but our ideal candidate would be between
18-35 years old, articulate, comfortable on camera, and willing to
talk about fat acceptance - preferably with a tattoo design in mind
that relates in some way to this idea.

People who have great personalities are a plus and we'd like to keep
it a positive/inspiratio nal story rather than something sad but we
are always open to people who will show emotion as well. If you
think that you could be of any help , please write back or call me.
Thanks so much for your time.

Sincerely,
Ellen

Follow-up letter:

It's a pretty complicated process getting someone on the show, so
here's where we start. It would be great if any potentials could go
to our website "www.miami-ink- casting.com" and apply to be on the
show. That way we have all the basic info we need and a
picture/discription of their tattoo idea. Then, make sure you tell
me the names of those who have applied...so I can print off their
file from the computer. From there we will need an interview video
tape just to get a feel for each person's personality and further
tell their story. I will send the people who apply the directions
for the video tape directly (we will have their email from the
application. ) From there, it's out of my hands and the casting
director would be deciding who she likes best. From there it's
booking and scheduling and all sorts of stuff. So let's get the ball
rolling.

By the way though, I love the idea of a plus-size pinup girl tattoo.
I am a size 20 myself and most of the time feel fine about my body
if it weren't for constantly being surrounded by skinny people who
tell me that I need to change it!
