So I just got done slogging through about 14 vBulletin pages over on superherohype about the film "Paranormal Activity". Films like that have always fascinated me because of the polarized reaction they get; people seem to be either actually terrified by them, interested but not scared at all, or not scared at all and they hate the film for not scaring them.
What is actually scary, then?
Are "jump scares" actually scary? How about brutal unrelenting gore? Or is the waiting to see what happens next the scariest part from you?
Or does nothing at all scare you and we're all desensitized?
The first film to really "get" me was actually my first R-rated movie: Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The nuclear holocaust scene...*shudders*... So yeah, to say I scare easily...not entirely true, but mostly.
