I hope this is the right place to post this, and I hope people have stories they want to tell. I was out walking and this just hit my head, so I needed to share it... I hope no one mind, and has stories to tell as well.

When you were younger, I mean, before you were an adult, or whatever you want to call it, who was your hero? And do you have a story in how that person became a hero for you?

When I was 10 I started at a new school. There were a few others from my "old class" who started at the same school, but still, it was a large group of unknown people. I was shy, short and stocky, and I knew I had no chance at being popular. Around the same time I saw a movie called "The Blues Brothers". You've all seen it, I hope. I loved it, (and still does), and particulary liked John Belushi as Jake. Here was a man who was short and stocky, but a great actor, great singer and great entertainer. I became more or less obsessed with him, reading everything I could find about this man, (the Internet wasn't a household thing then, at least not in Norway, so it was the libary and encyclopedias who learned me about "SNL", "1941" and his premature death.
Anyway, when we had schoolplays, parties at schools with entertainment, I was always among the first in line to join the acting troupe. I was always shy in general, but when I got on stage, I didn't give a damn. I was acting and I felt comfortable. People were always surprised, when shy me was on stage, impersonating celebrities, telling jokes, playing roles etc.

In later years, I think John Belushi gave me a lot of confidence. He inspired me, and I dared more. At least, that's what I think. Anyway, I hope this hasn't been an unimportant post where I was focusing too much about my own experience, but that someone else too can tell a story similar (and off course, it doesn't have to be a celebrity).

The late, great John Belushi: the fact that when I got older became an avid fan of JD is quite the coincidence!
