Anybody ever heard of this? my wife's mother and grandmother talk about "hard" fat and "soft" fat. Basically, "hard" fat, as i understand, is firmer, more permanent, and changes more slowly than "soft" or "baby" fat which increases and decreases with relative ease. Over time, "baby" fat can turn into "hard" fat, according to this notion. on the (luckily rare) occasion that my wife has complained out loud about her growing hips or belly rolls, her very funny grandmother has laughingly commented, "Oh honey, don't worry about that, that's hard fat, its here to stay!"
We get a laugh out of it at the time, but i wonder if there's any real basis for that observation. Thoughts?
