I'm looking for a story and I can't remember the name, the author or the characters.
What I do remember is a moment in which the male protagonist weighs himself and then a female character steps onto the weighing scales and the number shoots up accordingly. It's a moment of realisation that one day he alone will weigh as much as both of them do now.
It's a great moment, but I can't find the story in which it appears.
