Pop or Soda?

I was recently reading Jes's Pizza Hut rant about the buffet...and noticed some people say "soda" whereas I and maybe others say "pop"....and i thought soda was a southern thing but some people from the New England area say soda or whatever.

I'm from Michigan and I totally say pop.
