Religious conversion

Have you, or do you know anyone who has, converted from one religion to another?
How long is this process? I know this might differ from religion to religion, but please feel free to give examples.
I am rather curious on this issue, since I seem to have been "forced" into a religion, but I feel more at "home" with another one...
