I know that this subject has been brought up in the past, but it has been a while.

I drive a 1997 Chevy Tahoe. Yes, it is old, but I love my Tahoe and will drive it until I can no longer do so. Here's the problem...

I would like to replace the steering wheel with a slightly smaller diameter one (to make room for my ample tummy). The stock wheel has an airbag. I don't want an airbag in my steering wheel because I sit way too close to it. I'm afraid if it goes off, it will break my neck. More important to me is that I can drive without my shirt ending up sideways on my body because the steering wheel has grabbed it! It really isn't that safe, to tell you the truth.

So, do any of you have any experience changing out a steering wheel that has an airbag? I know the airbag can be disconnected. Thanks!
