Some time ago I did a comic that was for sale online (CafePress. I think?) called "the Ponderous Woman: Not As They Seem"... Earlier this year I dusted it off and it is available once again on itch.io - it was kind of my weird fattening-expansion-fetish take on the "Hansel & Gretel" tale.

Looking at it for the first time in maybe ten years made me wistful for the story, and the character of Joey (the PW) and her even larger friend, Bertha. I did the sketch attached here, showing Joey's surprise at her expanding girth!

I have recently started to "remaster" the "Bigger is Better" trilogy from the original PW comics - the first part in PW #9 has been posted at my Deviant Art page.

While fixing and recolouring the artwork is a fair amount of effort, getting to draw new covers is a lot of fun! These 3 issues originally had pretty dull covers, so making some new artwork for them was a real treat. I've attached the original artwork here for comparison. :)

Summer is so busy, it's hard to find time to sketch! But I managed to get another issue of the Ponderous Woman remastered and up on my DeviantArt page (the link is in my signature).

This one features another brand new cover drawing - it was so much fun to draw a super-sized Joey for this one! I hope you like it!

Oops! I have been tardy in sharing updates. I am still "remastering" the PW stories from 20 years ago and posting them on Deviant Art (see the address in my sig).

The lastest is a GOOD one, too - it's by a wonderful artist, and former Dimensions member, Biggie! Biggie (who is on DA as "Bigggie") hasn't been active online since 2007, and he is woefully missed. But I hope Eric & Tina are happy, healthy and living a wonderful life together!

This issue is from early 2000.

Thanks for reading!
Brenda

For the most recently remastered PW post on my DeviantArt site, I had to make another new cover.

I am really loving the chance to go back and draw these characters and scenes again. A part of my subconscious nags me that replacing it is kind of like "revisionist history," but I shrug it off pretty easily. The original low-res files were just too ugly. It is a shame that disk space, and server space, was so limited back then - and I wish I'd kept the original scans. C'est la vie!

Good! Shrug it off entirely. You are remastering in the full sense of the word.

For decades, the 1961 pop hit song Runaway by Del Shannon was plagued with the audio distortion known as “flutter”—every version, from the original Big Top Records single through every oldies compilation. Somehow, somewhere, someone got the actual original master tape and ran it on good-quality modern equipment: no flutter. The first time i heard it like that was either the 1980s or 1990s. Same song, sounding better like it never before had (to the general public at least).

It was very well remastered, like your PW 2020s releases.

It is a shame that disk space, and server space, was so limited back then - and I wish I'd kept the original scans. C'est la vie!

(Laughs) oh yeah. I was doing phonograph record digitizations then, and there just wasn’t enough space (that i could afford) for storing the raw digitizations, much less any of the intermediate processing steps prior to the final. I often couldn’t even save the final file(s), other than as the actual final standard CD-DA audio CD-R. I knew this was a problem at the time; figured i’d just have to re-digitize the record(s) some future year, if necessary.

At least you have enough to do the remastering and make PW and friends come to life for a whole new generation (and those like me who somehow missed it the first time around).

Some new updates over on my DeviantArt page... I am still working through the remastering of the original PW series.

Issue #16 was posted a little while ago - this was a fun one! I hope you enjoy. Lots more coming I hope before the end of 2021.

I haven't stopped remaster my old PW comics from 20 years ago! This issue was written by Dexy (Dexy, if you are still here on Dimensions, send me a message - it has been years!), and it was originally online in November 2000. Wow, how old did I get? Lol!

Hi everyone! I posted this latest issue of the re-mastered PW comics over on my Deviant Art page recently.

For a lot of these, I am drawing brand new cover art simply because the original art is too low-resolution. In this case, I wasn't happy with the original cover at all, so I drew an entirely new scene for it. I think it is the first measurement scene in the whole history of my comics, actually!

Another newly remastered issue of the Ponderous Woman has been posted at my Deviant Art page (see the link in my signature line).

This one, issue 19, similarly to the last installment, received a brand new cover which I've attached here. It deviates from the original but I think it is a VAST improvement.

I hope you enjoy reading!

Another issue of the Ponderous Woman has been remastered and is now posted at my Deviant Art page! Issue #20!

I've attached the cover image - this one is from the original, actually. It is one of the few issues where the original cover could be salvaged, as the figure was large enough in low-res to convert to a vector image and scale up to this new, larger size.

Thanks for looking!

I was slowed down in April due to some technical issues (read: I screwed up my computer, lol). But luckily I didn't lose any data. And so the PW remastering continues!

Issue #21 was posted on my DA site this week (link in my sig).

Let me tell you, it has taken two years to get this far in re-mastering these old PW comics, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now! :p Most of the issues to come will need new cover artwork, as does this one, #22.

You can read them all at my DeviantArt page and I am also posting issues on the Comic Fury website as well.

This is actually the issue that directly leads into Gravity Girl #3. I goofed and posted them out of order, sorry!

Another remastered original Ponderous Woman comic is now available!

Ponderous Woman #23

The cover (attached) is a new piece of art. Most of the covers I've drawn in the last two years of transitioning my old webcomics to this format have been essentially character portraits. Since Shelly got that treatment in the last issue, I opted for more of an action scene, and I am pretty happy with the result.

I hope you enjoy, and thank you for reading!

I have been having such a blast doing new covers for these old comics. I thought it would be a real slog, but I was surprised by how much I have enjoyed revisiting these old characters. It feels kind of like a reunion when I draw them now. The originals were done before my daughter was born - now she's well into her teens, and she thinks I've lost my mind, lol.

Here's the latest issue on DeviantArt now!

Ponderous Woman #24

There are only six issues of the original PW comics left for me to remaster and post - so I am trying to post the page updates daily!

Here is the cover of issue #26, which includes the original artwork from the 2001 release. The remaining issues all have new cover artwork.

Thank you for reading!

Part Two of the Final Fattening saga is now complete over on DeviantArt (https://www.deviantart.com/fatgirl33), with a brand new piece of cover art.

Pages are being posted daily, and I am already getting worn out by the process, lol!

Also, a side note for long-time readers from my original website... The original series didn't feature Dr. Riddell on a single cover. Since I've had to do so many new drawings for the covers of these "remastered" issues, I have made some changes and improvements where I thought they made sense. And since Dr. Riddell appeared in quite a few issues of the comic (and is a key participant in this story), I thought she deserved some time on the cover. :) (She also made an appearance on the new cover of issue 18, too.)

Thank you for reading! Brenda.
