There was a miles long funeral march when President Grant died. Union soldiers marched alongside Confederate soldiers to mourn his passing. A country divided united behind this president.

We're not nearly as divided today as when Grant took the field against the Confederacy. When soldiers who were trying to kill each other can put aside their differences and agree that they are all brother Americans it seems a pity that people talk today of rending asunder what so many died to preserve.

These secession petitions are lunacy. People threatening to move out of country are almost all just making noise. You're Americans, work to make things better, don't give up hope and don't give up the fight. But be civil to each other. And always remember a truth that was plain as day to U.S. Grant, actions speak louder than words.
