Hey everyone, just wanted to do a quick little informal study about people's perceptions of aquaculture (aka fish farming). I am taking a class at the University of Maine focusing on the public opinions and perceptions surrounding aquaculture, how these feelings were brought about and what can be done to dispell any false rumors.
Basically, I want to know how the Dimensions community feels about aquaculture. Do you support it or are you against it? Why do you feel this way? Did you hear anything in the media (internet, TV, newspaper, etc.) to influence your opinion? If so, where in particular was it and how was aquaculture treated by this source? If there are issues associated with aquaculture, what are they and how can they be addressed?
And a few additional questions to ponder: Do you think aquaculture can play a role in providing sustainable sources of food? Do you prefer wild-caught fish over aquacultured fish, or vice versa? If so, why? Would you be willing to pay for wild caught fish?
