Eating alone in restaurants?

I love to go out and do things in my community. I often do not have anyone to go out with, so I go with myself. I have travelled by myself, gone to movies, and frequently eat at restaurants. I am wondering if anyone else does this and what their experiences have been. I am often ignored but sometimes people will look at me strangely.
