Makers is good stuff. There’s a lot of good small batch distilleries out there that are significantly better than MM but if you’re on a budget MM is the way to go.

    Try:

    Jefferson’s Reserve
    Wathen’s
    Breckinridge
    Blanton’s

For still affordable but way better than entry level bourbon options!

+1 on the Blanton's. Good stuff. I'd also suggest W.L. Weller for an entry level bourbon that is WAY better than its price would ever have you think. The W.L. Weller Antique 107 Original is a stunning bourbon for a very good price. The best I've ever had was Rockhill Farms Single Barrel though. Just ridiculously good stuff with very complex layers of flavour development on the palate. Well, crap. Now I want a glass of bourbon, but I don't have any right now! lol :(

This one is local to my area and I don’t know how widespread their distribution is but if you ever find a bottle on your liquor store shelf, get it!
