"FA" is a pretty universal term in our community, and from everything I've ever understood it stands for "Fat Admirer." I have no qualms whatsoever with this term, but I think that it warrents some examination. Let me know if I'm looking too much into this. I'm well aware that in many cases a term is just a term... but I think this might come with some interesting discussion.

I am attracted to fat women, yes, but do I admire her fat? I feel as though I admire the women who happen to be fat. I mean... if the fat existed just as a substance and not part of the body of a gorgeous woman, it would do nothing for me at all. Why then am I called a "Fat Admirer?"

One could go so far as to say that the term "FA" somewhat reinforces objectification. From what I've read in posts over the past year or so, just about every BBW (and every woman for that matter) has had an experience or an encounter with someone, in real life or online, who has more than obviously cared about her body and nothing else. I'm not saying the term "FA" can necessarily CAUSE this sort of behavior, but only that the term is missing a personal element.

The term "BBW" has a letter that stands for "woman." Why not change "FA" to "FPA," Fat Person Admirer? Yeah, it's just another letter in an acronym... but maybe it will serve to remind us (especially those among us who constantly need to be reminded) that while physical attraction is important, attraction is about an entire person who is so much more than physical characteristics.

Sorry if this post is a bit scatterbrained... I kind of just threw some thoughts out onto the screen. Discuss amongst yourselves (as long as I can join in too) :D
