My name is Steve.
I figured I'd grab some attention with that thread title. I'm not here to solicit you or spam you... so no worries, I hope. I've browsed this community quite a bit over the years as I've always had an interest in size acceptance and I have a passion for working with large folks who are interested in weight loss.
This is a presumption on my part, but I imagine "professionals" come along frequently around here attempting to speak at people instead of with people. If that's at all accurate, I'm sure the idea of a fitness professional carries some negative connatations to some.
I assure you my agenda doesn't entail shoving information down your throats. And it doesn't entail telling people how they should and should not lead their lives in terms of health and nutrition. That's worlds apart from my style.
How I see myself fitting in around here is as an objective, knowledgeable resource people (WHO ARE INTERESTED IN DISCUSSING FITNESS/NUTRITION) can depend on for unbiased, useful advice.
I spend quite a bit of time on the net and own and/or moderate a number of very large weight loss communities. Frankly, I'm bored with them. It's the same questions and same issues. I figured I'd venture out into a bit of the unknown and see if I enjoy this angle.
And if ends up nobody has an interest... I'll be on my merry way. I see there's a health forum here, so I suspect that's where I'll spend my time, mostly.
Thanks for having me!
